Eva Garland, Ph.D.

Dr. Eva Garland founded Eva Garland Consulting (EGC) to bridge the gap between great scientific discoveries and the funding required to realize their societal potential. Since 2013, she has led the EGC team in securing and managing over $2 billion in funding for over 3,000 clients across the US and internationally.
Dr. Garland has served as an expert reviewer for the National Institutes of Health as well as for the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s report on the DOE SBIR/STTR program. She has presented dozens of workshops and invited talks throughout the US on scientific funding strategies.
Dr. Garland has published over a dozen manuscripts in fields spanning the physical and biological sciences as well as science education. She is the corresponding author on a Nature Biotechnology manuscript that describes EGC’s success in increasing the representation of entrepreneurs in the NIH Applicant Assistance Program for the first time in the 40 year history of the program. She is also the lead author on EGC’s three best-selling books on the SBIR/STTR program.
Prior to founding EGC, Dr. Garland held positions on the Chemistry Faculty at NC State University and as Vice President of Research & Development at Agile Sciences. At Agile, she oversaw a grant program that generated over $15M in non-dilutive funding to support the company’s pre-clinical development of a new class of compounds for addressing drug-resistant bacterial infections.
Dr. Garland has been recognized by the American Chemical Society, the Triangle Business Journal, and Inc. Magazine for her scientific and business achievements.

Jeremy Hinckley, CPA, MBA
Vice President of Accounting & Compliance

As Vice President of Accounting & Compliance at EGC, Jeremy Hinckley leads the company’s accounting team in providing accounting and grants management expertise to hundreds of high-growth technology companies from their startup phase through commercialization.
With extensive expertise in GAAP, grant accounting, and advisory services, Mr. Hinckley brings tremendous value to clients as they grow. His passion for innovation and its positive impact on the world is shown by his commitment to ensuring all EGC clients receive the highest level of support. He is adept in leading EGC’s accounting team to support high growth companies with budgeting, reporting, risk mitigation, and system implementations.
Before joining EGC, Mr. Hinckley served as the Controller and Director of Strategic Finance at the Carolina Center for Autism Treatment. In this capacity, he oversaw financial operations and advised on strategies to advance the organization’s mission. Mr. Hinckley began his career as an auditor at a top-50 public accounting firm and was an Accounting Manager at First Citizens Bank.

Angie Pollard, Ph.D.
Vice President of Scientific Consulting

As Vice President of Scientific Consulting, Dr. Angie Pollard, leads EGC’s team of over 40 Ph.D. Scientific Consultants in developing and implementing strategies to secure scientific funding. Over the past decade, Dr. Pollard has been instrumental in building EGC’s nationally recognized expertise in raising funding for small and large businesses, technology incubators, academic institutions, and research institutes throughout 50 states and 5 continents.
Dr. Pollard is widely recognized for her expertise across multiple scientific disciplines and has served on review panels for both the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). She has been an invited speaker and provided workshops across the US, including in California, Colorado, Delaware, North Carolina, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Dr. Pollard previously served as Director of Research at Agile Sciences where she leveraged over $15 million in non-dilutive funding to support innovative research initiatives across life sciences, agriculture, consumer products, and industrial applications. She has served as Principal Investigator on seven SBIR/STTR projects as well as a large contract from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
With a background in microbiology, molecular biology, and host-pathogen interactions, Dr. Pollard has received numerous awards throughout her career, including a Burroughs Wellcome Fund/Sigma Xi Grantsmanship Workshop and the NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein Institutional National Research Service Award.
