EGC and Brooks Pierce are pleased to announce a new, four-part webinar series focused on grant accounting and legal compliance.

The first edition, “Avoiding Legal Pitfalls in Applying for and Managing Your Federal Grant”, took place on July 11th and was co-hosted by Jeremy Hinckley, the Director of Accounting and Compliance at EGC, and Shana Fulton, a partner at the law firm of Brooks Pierce. This first webinar provided an overview of the critical laws and regulations that grant awardees must be concerned with when applying for a grant, managing the use of grant funds, and reporting to the government if unexpected issues occur during the life of the grant. Key takeaways from the session included:

  1. Be proactive: It is extremely important to prepare for compliance requirements before spending grant money. The sooner you start, the more likely you will successfully be compliant.
  2. Communicate: Your Grant Officer is there to help and guide you!
  3. Build a team: It is critical to have someone with compliance expertise either internally or as an advisor.

Future additional topics within the webinar series will include:

  • HR Guidance and Best Practices on August 8, 2024
  • Entity Formation Overview on September 12, 2024
  • Intellectual Property Overview on October 10, 2024

This webinar series is exclusive to EGC clients and select business partners.  Please contact us should you like to receive an invitation or if you have any requests for further information.
