In 2021, the Biden Administration introduced the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), to boost American infrastructure and competitiveness by funding projects that enhance broadband access, clean water and electric grid renewal and transportation. Group14, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of advanced silicon battery technology, knew that they were in a strong position to access this funding based on their unique ability to deliver advanced silicon battery materials to secure the U.S. battery supply chain.
Through partnering with EGC, Group14 received a $100 Million contract for the Battery Materials Processing and Battery Manufacturing award with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Manufacturing and Energy Supply Chains (MESC), part of the first Phase of investments form the BIL. The $100 million award has supported construction of Group14’s Battery Active Materials factory (BAM-2) in Moses Lake, WA, which is expected to be the site of the world’s largest factory for advanced silicon battery technology.
“As the company continues to scale, the $100 million award is instrumental in accelerating Group14’s domestic manufacturing capacity to deliver advanced silicon battery materials to secure the U.S. battery supply chain.”
